Katsura River is part of my Japan series. I have been interested in Japan as a young girl; my grandfather was one of the first purveyors of sushi grade tuna to Japan in the early seventies. My grandfather visited Japan several times, and would return home with embroidered landscape scenes as a souvenir gift to me. I had the great opportunity to visit Japan in 2016; this trip ensured my pursuit of Japanese aesthetics as reflected in my art.
